Lake Mburo National Park is one of the smallest parks in Uganda. To give you an idea, Queen Elizabeth covers an area of 1,978 km2 and Lake Mburo is 370 km2. One of the special features of this park is that 20% of the area is wetlands. It is named after Lake Mburo, which, along with 13 other lakes in the area, is part of a 50-kilometre system of wetlands. Five of these lakes are located on the borders of the park. Lake Mburo has mainly savannah areas, other areas are more forested and another of the special features of this park is that there are hardly any predators, so there are species that multiply quickly, such as zebras. In addition, there are up to 350 species of birds, impalas, buffalos, hippos, etc. It is a park that does not have as much biodiversity or as many animals as other parks, partly due to its compact size, but also because of poaching.
