Taquile Island

It is located 45 kilometers from Puno. It was part of the Inca Empire, and some archaeological remains can be seen there. It is the second largest island in Lake Titicaca with an area of 5.72 square kilometers. Taquileños are especially known for their weavings. Taquile and its textile art were recognized as Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.
