What to see in Madurai?
Thirumalay Nayak Palace
Built in 1636 by King Thirumalai Naya. Only part of the original temple is preserved, which was four times larger than it is today. The part that remains today was the king's residence. This palace contains a museum with pieces from the 17th century, in the Dance Room. You can also see a terrace with 10 pillars. It is said that each pillar hides a painting. If you feel like enjoying a show, in the afternoon there is a music and light show.
Madurai Flower Market
It is located near the Meenakshi Temple and one of the most important markets in South India. The huge flower pile gives not only amazing moments to the visitor but also compels the visitors to stay there for a long time to enjoy the unique aroma of flowers.
Dhobi Ghat of Madurai
India's popular outdoor laundry. The washing machines, known locally as Dhobis, operate outdoors to wash clothes in the city's hotels and hospitals. The system of operation is based on rows of piles of stones, each of which is equipped with its own flagellation stone.
