You start at Wat Traimit, located at the edge of Chinatown, on Yaowarat Street, near the Hualampong train station. Wat Traimit is home to the largest solid gold Buddha in the world, measuring almost five meters tall and weighing five and a half tons. The excursion will continue to Wat Pho, the largest temple in Bangkok, where the enormous Reclining Buddha and the Chedis of the Kings are located. This is located behind the Buddha Temple. It is one of the largest temples in the city and is famous for its gigantic reclining Buddha that measures 46 meters long and is covered in gold. Next, we will visit the Grand Palace, undoubtedly one of the most famous monuments in the city. Built in 1782, it was the house of the king of Thailand, the royal court and the administrative headquarters of the government for 150 years. The Grand Palace in Bangkok is an ancient building that continues to impress its visitors with its beautiful architecture and details. Within the complex is Wat Phra Kaev, also known as the Temple of the Emerald Buddha (officially Wat Phra Sri Rattana Satsadaram), considered the most important Buddhist temple in Thailand and enshrines the country's most revered Buddha image, meticulously carved in a single jade block I'll go back to the hotel, then I have the rest of the day free. Day 3: Bangkok - Chiang Rai
Early breakfast and transfer to Bangkok airport. Arrival at Chiang Rai airport and meeting with your tour guide who will accompany you throughout your tour of northern Thailand. Departure for Chui Fong, a beautiful tea-growing region. Surrounded by plantations on the slopes of small hills, you can enjoy various treats such as tea ice cream and tea cake (not included), followed by lunch (included) at a nearby local restaurant. Next, we will visit an opium museum before departing for the Mae Chan district north of Chiang Rai. We will then continue on foot, climbing the hills through narrow streets to visit a village of the Akha and Yao ethnic minorities. Our final destination of the day will be a Karen village, where we will meet this famous hill tribe, the largest ethnic minority group in Thailand. This tribe originally from Tibet migrated to what is now Myanmar about two thousand years ago. During the 18th century, political conflict and persecution are estimated to have fueled their mass migration to northern Thailand, where they still exist today without an official residential status. The tribe is most recognized for the Kayan women, a subgroup of the Po (Red Karen) whose necks are adorned with brass rings. Sometimes starting as early as age five, the constant pressure pushes their collarbones and ribs downwards, giving the impression of an elongated neck; this is the reason for their nickname "giraffe women." After the visit, continue to your hotel in Chiang Rai. Overnight stay.
