What to see in Tromso?
Tromso Botanical Gardens
We are talking about the northernmost botanical garden in the world, where the extreme arctic climate is established. There are more than 5000 species of plants that come from seed exchange with other gardens around the world. They all correspond to plants from the Arctic or those that populate the alpine peaks of the mountains of the world. The garden shows this collection arranged by continents.
Lake Prestvatn
Small lake in the center of Tromsøya island in the city of Tromsø in Troms, Norway. Prestvannet was planned as a reservoir in 1867, serving that function until 1921. Since that year, it has been a nature reserve. The area has been preserved as a place for birds to nest. The pond is surrounded by forests, which in turn is crossed by a path used for recreational activities and has signage that informs about the local fauna. In the winter the lake freezes, making it a popular place for ice skating.
