The Ngorongoro Crater is arguably one of the most beautiful landscapes in Africa. It has been part of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area since 1973. In addition to its fertile soil and abundant wildlife, the crater is also the only intact volcanic caldera in the world. Another interesting fact is that many believe that, before it erupted, Ngorongoro was taller than Kilimanjaro itself.
Located 1,800 meters above sea level, this crater is covered in diverse vegetation, with forest on one side and grassland on the other, making it a popular spot for leopard sightings. The crater is densely populated with other species, including a thriving population of lions, black rhinos, elephants, and large numbers of wildebeest. It is also possible to spot cheetahs, which visit Ngorongoro year-round.
