Habarana

Small town located in the Anuradhapura district of the North Central Province of Sri Lanka, near the ancient rock fortress and palace ruins of Sigiriya.

Habarana is a popular tourist destination for safari lovers as it is the starting point for safaris in the nearby Habarana jungle and Minneriya sanctuary, which is densely populated by elephants.​ Al Being located in the middle of the elephant corridor, it is not strange to see them even on the sides of the road. For this reason, in this area there are three of the main safari parks, Minneriya, Kaudulla and Hurulu. Visiting one or the other will depend on the time of year you are, since the elephants move between them. Normally, the ideal time to visit Minneriya is during the months of July to September.

If there is something that characterizes this area, it is its lush and lush vegetation of incredible green. Habarana is surrounded by lakes, which give life to the area. If you have free time, be sure to visit Lake Hiriwadunna, where in addition to taking a walk and relaxing in its waters full of water lilies, you can visit a traditional village to see what life is like in rural Sri Lanka.
