The deadline for booking requests for this tour or extra services will be 21 days prior to arrival in Sri Lanka, except for arrivals between July 19 and August 30, for which the deadline will be 30 days prior to arrival. After this deadline, any changes or added services will incur an emergency handling fee.

-Special diets: Cases of food intolerances (allergies, celiac disease, vegetarian food, etc.) must be communicated before arrival in Sri Lanka, although it is not possible to guarantee any type of special diet or menu.

-Consumer withdrawal: The tour is sold as a fixed package, therefore there will be no refund or discount for services that clients choose not to use or in which they cannot participate due to personal or medical reasons, flight schedules, or other events.

-People with reduced mobility: Many places in Sri Lanka, hotels, and transportation are not wheelchair accessible. Wheelchairs: Please inquire and notify us before booking. Any additional assistance costs required during the tour will be the responsibility of the client.

-Luggage: In case of lost luggage by the airlines, it will be the passenger's responsibility to manage the claim and contact the company directly to arrange for delivery or any applicable compensation. Luxotour will not be responsible for any procedures related to lost or damaged luggage.

-Conduct during the trip: If a passenger's behavior jeopardizes the tour's operation and/or causes discomfort to the rest of the group, they will be required to leave the tour without any discount or refund for services they are unable to enjoy.

-Credit card: Hotels generally require a credit card or cash deposit as a guarantee to provide services such as telephone calls, extras in bars and restaurants, minibar, laundry, room service charges, etc.

-Personal documentation and entry requirements in Sri Lanka: It is the client's responsibility to be aware of the current entry and exit regulations for the country they are traveling to, as well as to carry the personal documents required by the authorities. Sri Lanka, Beauty of the Indian Ocean (summer) (no flights) itinerary

Day 1: COLOMBO

Arrival at Colombo International Airport and meeting with our assistant for the group transfer to the hotel. In the afternoon (at 3:00 PM), departure for a panoramic city tour. Colombo is the commercial capital of Sri Lanka and its main port. An incredible mix of cultures and colors awaits on this paradisiacal island. This city of skyscrapers, beaches, and a blend of markets and gardens never fails to amaze visitors with its perfect combination of well-preserved colonial architecture and modern urbanism. During the panoramic tour, we will pass through the colonial Fort district and the lively Pettah Market, and see iconic landmarks such as the Old Parliament Building, Independence Square, City Hall, and Maha Devi Vihara Park. We will visit Gangaramaya Temple, one of Colombo's most famous Buddhist temples, where we can admire its eclectic mix of modern architecture and traditional design. We will also pass by Lake Beira and other highlights that reveal the unique character of the city, where East meets West, and the old meets the new. After the tour, return to the hotel. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: COLOMBO – WELIGAMA – GALLE – BALAPITIYA – RIO MADU – BERUWELA

Breakfast and departure towards the island's south coast. The first stop will be in Weligama to observe the famous pole fishermen, a unique ancestral fishing tradition of this region. Watching the fishermen balanced on thin poles in the water is an unforgettable experience. Then, we continue to Galle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where we will explore the 17th-century Dutch fort. We will stroll through its narrow cobbled streets lined with colonial houses, charming cafes, and shops. We will walk along the fort walls to enjoy views of the Indian Ocean and the historic lighthouse. We will continue along the coast to Balapitiya where we will enjoy lunch at a local restaurant.

After lunch, we will take a boat safari on the Madu River, passing through dense mangrove forests, observing birds, lizards, and all kinds of wildlife. Arrival in Beruwela, one of the island's earliest Muslim settlements, now a quiet coastal town. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: BERUWELA - TISSAMAHARAMA

Breakfast and departure for Tissamaharama, gateway to Yala National Park. Arrival and lunch. Afterwards, we will embark on an exciting approximately 3-hour game drive in a 4x4 vehicle in Yala (or Udawalawe, depending on the season). Yala is famous for its high density of leopards, as well as wild elephants, sloth bears, spotted deer, and abundant birdlife. The game drive takes you through bushland, plains, and forests, providing a diverse and exciting wildlife experience. Return to the hotel, dinner, and overnight stay.

Day 4: TISSAMAHARAMA – BUDURUWAGALA - ELLA – NUWARA ELIYA

After breakfast, we depart for Buduruwagala, an ancient Buddhist temple carved into the rock, featuring seven colossal statues, including a 15-meter-tall standing Buddha. Following the visit, we continue our journey through the hills to Ella, a charming hill village surrounded by tea plantations. We'll take a tuk-tuk ride to the famous Nine Arches Bridge, an architectural marvel nestled amidst lush vegetation. Enjoy panoramic views of the Ella Gap and stop at Ravana Falls, a picturesque waterfall linked to the legends of the Ramayana. Lunch will be at a local restaurant. Afterward, the journey continues to the cooler climate of Nuwara Eliya, a former British hill station nicknamed "Little England" for its colonial architecture and mild atmosphere. The afternoon is free to stroll around Gregory Lake or simply relax in this tranquil setting. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: NUWARA ELIYA - KANDY

Breakfast at the hotel. The day begins with a visit to a tea plantation and factory. We will learn about the production process of world-famous Ceylon tea, from harvesting to brewing, and enjoy a tasting of freshly brewed tea. Afterward, we depart for Kandy. Upon arrival, we will have lunch at a local restaurant. Next, we will explore Sri Lanka's cultural capital, visiting the Gem Museum, the picturesque Kandy Lake, and the city's lively streets. We will conclude the tour with a visit to the Temple of the Sacred Tooth (Sri Dalada Maligawa), the most revered Buddhist shrine in the country. Return to the hotel, dinner, and overnight stay.

Optional Activity: For those who wish, a scenic train ride (at an additional cost) from Nanu Oya to Peradeniya can be included. The journey takes three and a half hours. The train is subject to availability, reservations must be made at least one month in advance, and a passport must be presented to purchase the ticket.

Day 6: KANDY – MATALE – DAMBULLA / HABARANA

After breakfast at the hotel, depart for Matale. We will visit the Sri Muthumariamman Temple, a vibrant Hindu temple admired for its Dravidian architecture and colorful sculptures. We continue to a local spice garden in Matale, where we will learn about Sri Lanka's fragrant spices and their use in cooking and Ayurvedic medicine. After the visit, we will have lunch before continuing north. In the afternoon, we will visit the Dambulla Cave Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This extraordinary complex is filled with intricate frescoes and over 150 Buddha statues. The panoramic views from the top of the rock are breathtaking. Dinner and overnight stay in Dambulla or Habarana.

Day 7: DAMBULLA – SIGIRIYA – POLONNARUWA – DAMBULLA

After breakfast, we'll depart on an excursion to visit Sigiriya Fortress, one of Sri Lanka's most iconic landmarks. Here, in the 5th century, King Kashyapa built his fortified palace atop a colossal 183-meter-high rock. On a protected platform of this mountain, we find the famous Sinhalese paintings, the "Heavenly Maidens," a UNESCO World Heritage Site. At the summit, we'll discover the remains of the king's enormous palace with its pools and stages for dancers. Next, we'll explore the surrounding area, an interesting experience that will allow us to connect with the rural life of the local people. The excursion uses traditional local transportation: we'll travel by tractor, cross a lake by boat, and finish with a tuk-tuk ride through the countryside. Afterward, we'll enjoy a traditional lunch at a local home. In the afternoon, we'll visit Polonnaruwa, Sri Lanka's medieval capital. We will explore the impressive ruins, including the Royal Palace, the Parakrama Samudra reservoir, and Gal Vihara, famous for its magnificent rock-carved Buddha statues. Return to the hotel, dinner, and overnight stay.
