Nara

It was the political and religious heart of ancient Japan and capital of the country of medieval Japan. It is one of the most important tourist destinations in the country due to the large number of ancient temples and their good conservation. The temples and ruins of Nara have been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1998. There is a university next to the medical school among other educational institutions. - Nara Park:Created in 1880, it is a public park of approximately 502 hectares, located at the foot of Mount Wakakusa. It is known for its Sika deer, which roam freely throughout the green area of Nara and is one of the main tourist attractions after the temples in the area. They are very popular and the inhabitants and locals of the area sell all kinds of accessories with the face of a deer as a symbol of the city. It is also possible to buy "deer food" (cookies prepared by the vendors) to feed them and patiently pet them. to these animals, which are so used to people that they allow themselves to be touched. Its gardens, which were previously private, are now shown to the public. The Nara National Museum and the Todai-ji are located there.

- Nara National Museum: It is one of the most impressive museums in the world. country. It has a main building of Meiji architecture. Behind its brick facade is the largest collection of Buddhist statues in the archipelago. This museum has large spaces, careful lighting and excellent museography. At the entrance they offer headphones with audio guides in English. It has an impressive library specialized in Buddhist art with more than sixty-seven thousand books and three thousand magazines available to the general public. In the center of the museum garden is the tea house, a space with tatami mats, thin walls and a thatched roof.

- Todai-ji Temple: It is a Buddhist temple that houses a giant 50-foot-tall statue of Vairocana Buddha, called dainichi (Buddha who shines throughout the world like the sun), known simply as daibutsu (Great Buddha). The temple also serves as the Kegon school of Buddhism. It has been rebuilt twice due to fires caused by the war, it is 33% smaller than the original, yet it holds the world record for being the largest wooden construction in the world. The temple and its surrounding area, along with other buildings, were declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1998, as part of the historical monuments of ancient Nara.
