Day 2: LUXOR - ESNA - EDFU

Full board on board. Morning departure to cross the Nile and visit the west bank of the river to admire the Valley of the Kings, where 62 kings are buried in tombs carved into the mountainside. The mortuary temple of Ramses III (20th Dynasty), now known as the Temple of Medinet Habu (the City of Habu), is a fine example of New Kingdom architecture. He modeled it after the mortuary temple of Ramses II, the Ramesseum, and expanded upon it. It is the best-preserved temple in the Theban area and still retains much of its original polychromy. After the visit, you will pass by the Colossi of Memnon and continue to the Luxor Temple, located in the center of Luxor. The temple was built by Amenhotep III and Ramses II in the 18th century BC and was connected to the Karnak Temple by the famous Avenue of Sphinxes. One of the obelisks from the temple entrance was taken to the Place de la Concorde in Paris. After visiting Luxor, we went to the Temple of Karnak, the Temple of Amun-Ra (the sacred precinct of Thebes), which is filled with obelisks, columns, and colossal statues. We returned to the ship to begin sailing towards Edfu, passing through the Esna Lock. Overnight on board.

The Sphinx and the three pyramids were considered one of the most important wonders of the ancient world. After the tour, lunch at a local restaurant and departure for the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM), a spectacular museum dedicated to the amazing Egyptian civilization.
