Rissani

It is an attractive small city, both for its surroundings and its history. It has several monuments of interest, a very busy market and an area used as a donkey parking lot where these animals are also bought and sold. It is considered the heir to the mythical Sijilmasa, the first capital of Morocco and the origin of the country's royal family. It is the largest town closest to the Erg Chebbi desert, the largest sand desert in Morocco.
