Kasese is a district in southwestern Uganda that was formed in 1974, named after its capital city, Kasese Town. The district is situated along the equator and borders Kabarole and Bundibugyo Districts in the north, Kamwenge in the east, Bushenyi District and the Democratic Republic of the Congo in the west. It has a total land area of 2,724 square kilometres, 885 square kilometres of which is reserved for the Rwenzori Mountains National Park.
