Botero Museum, Bogotá

Bolivar Square, Bogotá
Bolívar Square, declared a National Monument of Colombia, is not only the main square of the city of Bogotá, but also the main square of the country. Surrounding it are some of the city's most important buildings: to the north, the Palace of Justice; to the south, the National Capitol; to the east, the Metropolitan Cathedral Basilica of Bogotá and Primate of Colombia, the Ecclesiastical Council House, the Chapel of the Tabernacle of the Metropolitan Cathedral Basilica, and the Archbishop's Palace; to the west, the Liévano Palace, seat of the Mayor's Office of Bogotá; and to the southeast, the Jesuit College of San Bartolomé. In the center of the square stands the statue of Simón Bolívar, inaugurated in 1846.
