“Our Lord of the Eight Lions.” Villahermosa is the capital of the state of Tabasco, in the southeast of Mexico. The culture of Villahermosa is a reflection of its history and geographical location; the city was founded in 1564 and soon established itself as an important center of the Mayan and Olmec culture, this being the beginning of its rich heritage to which, over the years, influences from other cultures have been added. The climate in Villahermosa is warm-humid-dry. The temperature during spring can reach over 40° C with a relative humidity of over 90%, during the short winter the climate is much drier and temperatures are much lower.
