Tomok is located on the east coast of Samosir Island, the large volcanic island in the center of Lake Toba in North Sumatra, and is accessible by ferry from Parapat. It is known as the cultural heart of the Batak people, where you can admire the traditional houses (Rumah Bolon), built without nails. It is an important historical site that houses the stone tombs of the region's former leader, including the tomb of King Sidabutar. Visitors can witness the traditional "Gale-Gale" dance, performed with wooden puppets that narrate the history and legends of the tribe. The village is also famous for its local souvenir shops, handicrafts, and the distinctive ulos textiles. Today, Tomok is a key tourist center for understanding the history, traditions, and culture of the Batak people in Sumatra.
