Salt Cathedral, Zipaquirá
The Salt Cathedral is a structure built inside the salt mines of Zipaquirá, 180 meters underground. It is considered the First Wonder of Colombia and one of the country's most important architectural gems. This religious and tourist site offers a unique spiritual and visual experience thanks to its carved tunnels and impressive lighting. The Stations of the Cross are a highlight, a route of 14 stations symbolizing Jesus's journey to Calvary, carved directly into the salt rock. Equally important are the Dome and the Choir, monumental structures that symbolically connect heaven and earth. However, the most photographed spot in the cathedral is the Water Mirror, where the stillness of the water creates a visual effect of infinite depth.
